The great commission given by Jesus in Matthew 28:19 states: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you”.
It is clear, based on this verse, that we as Christian are to work towards spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ by witnessing to our friends, family, co-workers and strangers. If you find you don’t have many opportunities to witness to others, you can still be a part of the Great Commission by supporting the church sponsored missionaries.
In 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2 during Paul’s missionary journeys, he requests, “Pray for us, that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you, and pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people for not everyone has faith”. We are reminded how powerful and essential prayer is in the spreading of the gospel. We should lift up our missionaries in corporate prayer and in our individual devotionals.
Take time to read the letters from our missionaries, which are in the back of the church near the big bell, to learn their specific prayer requests and also ask the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of those they encounter.
